does someone know, if V8 is capable of receiving an audio stream from NAS? Specifically, I have Synology DS212j and would like to know, if it is possible to play audio stream from AudioStation running on this server through V8.

Also I would like to know, if V8 handles stylized *.ASS subtitles properly, mainly fonts, position and multiple subtitle streams, I don´t care about karaoke effects etc, though. Thanks a lot for any answer.

On my PC, I have a working yamj for the popcorn hour machines, but as I can understand, the popbox doesn't read html.
So what I have to do is, change the skin to eversion right?
It that it or?
I'm a linux user, so the guides are mostly useless to me, and I think there are too many and too confusing.

When I play a movie and return to the share that I was in, most of the time I get the error "share no longer exists".

So when I then go out of the shares and into the home menu, and try to get to the shares through the Network Browser, I get this error when I try to access the WORKGROUP network shares:

"An error occurred, cannot proceed your request. (ERR 914)

There's no way to get around this - turning the V8 off and on doesn't help one bit. The only way to "fix" this, is by unplugging the V8 and plugging the power back in. Then it suddenly can find the shares again and it seems like nothing has happened.

But a few minutes later, the V8 loses the shares again and I have to unplug the thing all over again.

I suspect this is a bug in the share-management within the firmware. My shares are hooked up to a Fritz!Box, which acts as a NAS. No passwords, no usernames.

I'd love to have this fixed, because apart from this, the V8 is a wonderful little machine...

Hope to hear from the developers soon!

Cheers,
"Hi Mike:

My list of recently added does not come close to being what has been recently added. There are movies over a year old that show up and ones I put in last week do not. I tried to restart the database from scratch but still not right.

Can I manually fix the database to show the recently added movies?

BobVal "

I was not able to reply due to you selecting not to receive any PM's, so I am answering here, hopping you see this.

Answer to your question is that as far as I know the Recently Added are not stored in the database on the flash drive. From what I understand from the Syabas people, the Recently added is stored within the Popbox unit itself (I assume in some internal flash memory). I have found no way of fixing this problem they have of not showing the recently added shows in the Recently Added section.

Sorry can't help more.

I'm still using my original popbox. Now it refuses to play analog audio at all. Such as lpcm ect.. I'm wondering should I try to find a cheap used original popbox to replace with or buy the new V8? I already have 2 family members setup with original popboxes and I deliver there movies (MKV's), so I'd need the V8 or whatever player I use to have the same scanner, so that I'm not having to fix imdb entries twice. I imagine this means I'm stuck with popbox? Anyone know if both popboxes use the same scanner? One feature I'm really missing is the ability to serve music from my pc to popbox so I can listen to music from my amp without having to turn my tv on. popbox moderator Swalters promissed this but failed to deliver. Can V8 do this? This would compell me to replace my original popbox with V8. Right now I'm running a beta firmware on my popbox because the final firmware broke the scanner. I'm pretty happy with my original popbox performance right now. Seems stable enough. I rarely have analog audio tracks so I'm able to play most of my content fine. What improvements would warrant the extra cost of buying a V8 vs. picking up a used original PB for $50 if I could? Or should I hold out for newer yet to be released boxes?

Hi,

I have a central house server with 6 internal sata drives. Media is shared on each of these drives. To save energy, these drives will spin down after a while when not in use. The problem occurs when this happens, as it takes a few moments for the drives to spin up again. This is noticeable when you access the shares from a laptop, but the shared data will still show up eventually.

When you access the (spun down) shares from popbox3d however, it shows the folder as empty, presumably there is a time out. Unfortunately it seems to cache this, for it still shows up empty when you try to access the USB share from the popbox3d. When this happens I often have to unplug the box.

I've worked around it by accessing the shares from my laptop prior to navigating to them via popbox3d, but it is a major pain.

Can you increase the time-out for accessing the Samba shares, or at least get it to stop caching the value when it thinks the share is not there.

cheers,

Sorry if this has been covered, but does the V8 support the PCM multi-channel audio track from a bluray mkv rip? When I play the movie it always selects the secondary DD audio track and when I hit Audio or Title, it shows 2 audio tracks but they both play the DD and it does not switch to PCM. I have the PCM option set to passthrough in the settings. Thanks.
